Notes & Combos
Hey everyone! Your favorite Altergeist main (and Ghost Gal lover) is back! I need no introductions at this point because I'm sure everyone knows me by now. That being said, I hope everyone had an awesome Thanksgiving 2024 and is ready for the Christmas Break! I know I am. Working on my doctoral semester project in Crime Law was exhausting, but hey my group made a 100% on it so we take those. Once I push through my semester finals, I'm one step closer to putting "Dr" in my name in year 2026 when I graduate with my Degree. Anyways, onto the Altergeist portion of my write-up.
This was by far my hardest King of Games climb to date and I lost three King of Games rankup attempts due to the influx of Sky Strikers and True Draco, both of which are unwinnable matchups for Altergeists. The ladder is also infested with people spamming pre-banlist Lyrilusc, so yeah, not fun. With the November 2024 banlist, Altergeists received a slight nerf with Needle Ceiling going to a limit 3, which stinks because Altergeists have always struggled with mass board removal. I genuinely think you still play Needle Ceiling even post banlist. The card is way too good to pass up in Altergeists where you need full board clear to win games. Sometimes, one Silquitous bounce isn't going to cut it and I often found myself getting overwhelmed in situations where Needle Ceiling would have won me the game over other limit 3 backrow. Needle Ceiling is the tech card I invented in Altergeists too.
I was also trying out Evil's build with no Pookuery but for some reason, I kept bricking more with no starter so I think playing Pookuery is correct to maximize the amount of gas this deck has. I also like Pookuery for making quick, easy, surprise Hexstia plays to push through backrow. Hexstia is a great boss monster so you ideally don't want to minus yourself making her on field.
Everything else is pretty much standard stuff you guys have seen before and as for my flex card, this time we got alternate are (orange) Firewall Dragon. I didn't really use it and if you want a better card, you can play Kidolga instead and the deck works fine. I'm a Kidolga enjoyer but she's bad into Lyrilusc. That about wraps it up. Happy Holidays everyone!
Finally, my past five games to King of Games were consisted of Phantom Knights (Yuto), Unchained (Ghost Gal), Battle Chronicle Blue-Eyes White Dragon (Duel Monsters Seto Kaiba), Ancient Warriors (Yuri), and finally my KoG game pre banlist Lyrilusc (Lulu Obsidian).
Replays
When it comes to replays, as always, I'll be posting all five of my games to my YouTube channel if you guys want to see. A bit unfortunate I had to KoG this late in the season, but I was busy with my semester project and university takes precedence over Duel Links. That being said, I'll post the best replay here, vs the Lyrilusc player. This replay will showcase Memorygant's power of attacking twice in a row for the OTK.
