Notes & Combos
After having tried to hit KoG with the Maximum (Wyrm Excavator) version of the deck a couple months ago and gotten fed up with how inconsistent it felt I wanted to see how the new fusion cards and skill handled in comparison. Overall the fusion version feels more consistent and has a stronger payoff in Buildream which is a very threatening boss monster that can shred through fields of face down monsters in a way that the Max version struggled with. There's still a lot of moving parts you have to set up to get your engine going, so you have to play defensively at first- but once you mill a bunch of cards you can start chugging out those fusions and most boards will just crumple to your monster pops and field spell boosted attacks.
Overall this version of Wyrms feels like a solid tier-3/rogue deck and can definitely compete on the ladder against meta decks. If for some reason you find yourself against this deck- remember that the Buildream fusion acts like Treacherous Trap Hole (in Speed Duel) in that it must pop exactly two monsters, so if your board has a single monster with over 3400 ATK (or 3K if the field spell isn't active) this deck can't pop or attack over it without help from a tech. Cyber End Dragon in particular is a very threatening for this deck to deal with.
Why I don't use Silvermountain of Blisstopia: This field spell cannot be activated unless your opponent has a lv 7 or higher monster on the field, and way too often it ends up being a dead card when you badly need to activate Buildragon's effect (which requires a face-up field spell). I find that between the skill search and Tarasque's mill effect I'm able to consistently get out Peaks of Blisstopia by my second turn even with only 3 copies in the deck. Rice Terrace Crisis is also a surprisingly powerful defensive trap that has won me games and competes for the limit 1 slot.
